Default Shock Upgrade Advice

Hi guys

I'm looking to replace and upgrade my stock shocks on my 2000 XJ Classic.

My XJ is not lifted, but what I understand the Classic has a stock lift of 1" over the Limited, although not sure if this is correct?

Any recommendations or advice would be great!

Hey LuluBelle

In reality its going to be driving to work and highway driving mostly with the odd easy/medium offroad adventure.

Looking to improve the handling, performance and reliability on & offroad.

Wanting to keep it stock height.

Eventually also want to replace the bushes, steering stabilizer and control arms as well.

IMHO it's extremely hard to beat the OEM shocks from a JK on a mildly lifted Xj, you just need to bumpstop to suit, often these shocks near new can be had for a carton of beer....

That's not from the wreckers obviously, check out the buy and sell pages with Jk owners, I got a set given to me for free..

Mine have been in for several years so far, lots of highway and a cape trip with the frenchman's track and the OTT under their belt so far, still going very well....
