interesting observation
been working back with abigroup for 4 weeks now on the new bit of pacific hwy just south of buladelah ,and during the day any day i probably spot 12-15 grand cheros on average and are yet to see a modified one meaning lifted/muddies/attitude,lots running nerf bars and driving lights but none that look like theyve ever been offroad.there is a few in Forster where i live and they look at mine like its from another planet,is there an unwritten rule that we are not allowed to paddockbash these things? any thoughts?

Bob,
I think they are a pretty good package as is, without all the mods. Lightforce spotties, GPS & UHF are about the only mods on mine...and of course a decent muffler to enjoy the acoustics. My WJ gets regular use in the Vic high country chasing deer and Trout and goes most places I ever want to get to without being hard core. Even does river crossings (no snorkel) without drowning like those 4x4 magazine wankers managed in a puddle. Hell, I still run Wranglers on the bloody thing too!

that's about what mine looks like most days.
It has a UHF aerial but other than that you'd have to be looking carefully to notice the lift. Have chromies with road tyres on for road use (so quiet and smooth!!) so most people would probably look at it thinking it never leaves the black stuff

bobcatrowe,
You will also see this observation in the JAA and other mags as well as the pics in this section. Most are pics in yards and on driveways or lots but not many in the bush/mud/dirt. I must admit mine is stock but it goes offroad.
We can change this at the Grand Day Out I am organising this month. Date to be confirmed.

Ditto
My GC in stock form does me fine, however I would LOVE to get it lifted etc, etc, but the 'Minister for Finance' wouldn't allow it

MY WG is stock apart from Jeep bull bar, IPF spotties and UHF. It goes most places i want it too, and if it gets stuck it's *always* on the front diff (which wouldn't be solved by a lift) or the fuel tank - unless it is because the rut was too deep and the whole car is sitting in the mud / sand. Give it a detail and it looks like any other other Grand driving around Camberwell except for the bullbar and UHF aerial mount as most have the nudge bar and spotties anyway.
You'll probably find that as time forces down the price of the now ageing WG that more get modified, after all you see very few modified KJs but at the MJOC Muster last weekend we had more XJs than TJs I reckon.
Oh, and that's a WH behind the Rangie....
