Going around the roundabout at the shops this morning when "BANG". Pulled into a parking space right there and thought something in the diff went ka- blooey. Luckily a garage is right across the street and I S-L-O-W-L-Y pull across with the rear crabbing along. When I parked and got out the right rear tyre was over about an inch. Now I'm thinking I've snapped an axle.
The owner comes over (I get my fuel from this guy and his wife is from Mississippi like me, so we know each other
) and we get down and start really looking underneath.
The diff carrier that attaches the whole works to the subframe has snapped and the axle is pretty much floating. I'm now dancing a jig because it's not the diff or an axle but it still craps me that this plate would break going around the roundabout. Plus it happened across the street from a garage and not out on the trail or on the highway which is also some consolation...Can't get her back 'til Tuesday at the earliest.
Anybody heard of this one before???
