I put the new sender in and the only guess work was around the filter.
It's made so it can only be pushed on so far, then it tops out so to speak.
Once I put it in the tank though it didn't touch the bottom, so I played around to see how low I could make the pick up, without touching the bottom.
Then I had two sets of rubber ring seals and locking rings. I went with the thickest locking ring and the round rubber seal rather then the square shaped ring seal that came with the tank.
Not knowing to put some rubber grease on the seal or some sort of petroleum friendly grease or something .... I gave it the old slag lube to help it seat. I did put it on twice though - Unhappy with what looked to be unseated properly the first time. It went on fine the second time.
Spun her upside down and finished spraying the bottom half.
Then it was time for a couple more bourbons and work out what I needed to make a mercy dash into town for tomorrow ??
