As i have now had my tj for just over 6 months i thought i'd make a build up thread now that i am making some decent money and i can start on the mods iv been dreaming of and start fixing what has already headed up the creek. Hopefully along the way people can throw me some advice on things i am doing that they may have done previously and I might be able to offer some advice to others after doing things myself.
To date the mods i have made are a set of 31" BFG KM2's, HELLA spotties, 2" king springs lift and chopped my front bar down and removed the rear bar as i tore it off on a previous trip with the ACT boys.
It hasnt been smooth sailing since owning my beloved toy though. So far i have cracked two rear uni's (one half way up camp road at Cruiser park), shattered a spottie 2 weeks after getting them, had to replace the front and rear pinion seels. I now need a new clutch, need a new gearbox as 1-3rd gear synchros are shot and will be forking out for a SYE kit in the next week or so as fwd is starting to get a little annoying.....
My list of wants/needs is fairly long but im sure others have a list of what they have done or are going to be doing to their pride and joy that equals or rivals mine:
O2 sensors replacing
New brake pads
Throttlebody spacer
Exhaust system
Wider Flares
New spotlights on window mounts and front bar
UHF
Protofab front bar (powder coated black)
ARB rock sliders
Blackjack rear bar
New thermostat, gasket, radiator, hoses and water pump
New spark plugs
Snorkel
Ratios to suit 33's and a rear locker
Staun internal bead locks (if anyone is running these how much did they cost and are they worth it?)
3.5" RE Superflex lift kit, all components powder coated yellow. I have seen it done before and loved the contrast of colours
Tigerz winch
Hardtop
and 33'' Baja Claws.
Here are a few pictures that i have so far:
First day I had it
No lift and 31's
2" lift and 31's
Spotties and chopped front bar
First of the broken uni's
Where i got to until the uni broke
Inskip point
As mentioned before if anyone has any information they can throw at me from their own builds and personel experiences the information will be recieved greatfully.
Hope to see some jeepers out on the trails in the near future,
Josh.
