flexy, i had looked at the ebay ones for a while and hummed and harred, i decided not to go that way as i would rather a box from aus where i can get some form of warranty that is easy to follow up if needed rather than having to send it to the states if something happened. the cost of shipping, purchase import duty taxes etc became rediculous.

i originally had a look for something stroner but what was needed to do it and the price to have the boxes shipped over from the states plus the id rather have the nv3550 and just upgrade parts in it to be stronger as the need arises

B-Rad, thanks for the advice, i had heard that the claws were pretty bad for wear but my new job has just offered me the choice of a brand new car and i pay for fuel or keep driving the wrangler as my daily and they will pay for fuel........ im thinking i will take their offer of a new car as il be saving money on fuel when compared to the tj and itl actualy be a quiet ride for once. then i can keep the tj just for weekend play and reduce teh amount of travel i do on the claws

you will have heeps of fun with your new rubber. when you are running in sand they work better with the tread running backwards if you can be bother to swop your wheels around.

i dont forsee any sand action in the near future, not many beaches near canberra.... but i have neard that they act like shovels in the sand if left facing in the intended direction.

i was also looking at getting the silverstone mt117's. anyone had any experience on these tyres in comparrison to baja claws?

well the drive home revealed that the tj has developed another issue, one of the pulleys has started to squeek, so tomorrows job is to isolate which one and get it lubed up.

my gearbox is really starting to not like gear changes now, grinds out 1-3 gear unless changes are made ultra slow until warmed up. even then they clunk in and out. i reckon iv got about 4 weeks tops until its no longer driveable.

atm the tj's problems are:
one of the pulleys starting to stick a little
no rear drive shaft at all, love the fwd on tight corners and round abouts
gearbox is shot to pieces
throw out bearing has seen better days
radiator's fins are mostly pushed flat = slight heating problem
thermostat is past its used by date
thermostat gasket has a slight break in it somewhere so i have a small leak

yet despite the cooling system issues it still maintains decent operating temps until really pushed hard.

hopefully i can have these thins fixed in the next 5-6 weeks and be back out on the tracks with some jeepers

my transmission got to a point where it would not change gears so i drained the fluid and put auto trans fluid in there and it gave a big improvement in shift quality although it is not ideal or reccomended .
