That probably wouldn't work with the Barra electrical system though, right? I'm pretty sure they changed it with the AU, and probably again with the BA. That sorta thing would be the way to go though, so the stock Jeep body control module can be kept and used with the Ford ECU.

On another note, not particularly to do with the Ford engine, but here's a link of someone who turbocharged the stock 4.0L:

Has anyone had the idea-done a stroker and turbo job on the jeep 4.0 yeah she may be a heavy old beast but would kick up a stink with some air slammed down her gutts, cost wise 2-3g im guessing???? and headacke wise hmmm mayb for the more advanced... but look at it this way, custom make a exhaust manfold, remap the ecu, turbo(2 cheap as chips, and you got a stock to custom motor that you can build yourself.... i mayb wrong here but i have done a few motor transplants and the pain in wiring looms and custom mounts, ect... them the aftermath of ironing out the little kinks finding problem after problem than regreting the cost factor and having your pride and joy off the road while you do the build.... in the end is it really worth it??? mayb if ya a meaga gear head but if your after fuel eco whats the point on spending thousands of dollys do save a 5bucks a week on fuel:s just a thought

$2 -3K your kidding yourself

That is a $10+K project with doing it yourself and nothing going wrong and I reckon at best you would be off the road for 3 months

but has been done a few times check out POR forum there is at least 3 I know of there

I was going to turbo my ED falcon (93 model), and i over time picked up nearly all the parts second hand certain things i did buy brand new but total cost of parts from memory came to around $2200 including a piggy back computer...

If you were going to Turbo the jeep 4L, and you did all the work yourself except tuning, i reckon you could get away with it for between $4000-7000, depending obviously on what turbo you get, and price of things you buy new and how much you buy new. opersonally i'd turbo the Jeeps 4L, but if i was going to put a ford motor in i'd use a SOHC 4L just for cost reasons and the simplicity of the motor.
