I have had 4.11's on a crd manual with 35's for about 2+ years. Best mod I have done.

I did some calculations a while back & worked out that going from 3.21 to 4.88 is the same as using 4th as the highest gear. Yes it uses a bit more on the highway but only 1-2L/100km when I tried it for a couple of months.

The big difference would be in the low gears & being able to start off & accelerate easier as well as actually drive up even small hills without haveing to change out of top gear.

Seem to recall about $700ish, got some other things done so not totally sure.

When I had 4.11 and the standard tyres, you could take off in second, but used a fair bit more fuel at highway speed sitting at about 2500rpm.

Can anyone confirm if they have successfully put thick cut gears in the D30 as per these links, if this is true I won't need to replace my locker:
