Default Physical Battery Size

I need a new battery but all the recommended ones (27 cm long) will not fit. The current one is about 24cm and 520 CCA. It's a 2000 XJ Classic, can anybody tell me what battery it shoud have?

Currently I am using a Delkor 22EFR-520 battery (pretty much the same as what you have), not a lot of space in the XJ engine bay, cant go much bigger from what I can see without modding

To go bigger, you need to mod the battery tray OR just buy a replacement tray that can hold a larger battery

batteries have a specific number, denoting size & terminal position, ie Num 38, 56 etc

by using that number you can find not only the correct battery size for your vehicle in the FSM (probably), but also source one that will fit.

I have a 620CCA battery in another vehicle that would physically fit in the Jeep, not sure on terminal position

Example; for my '96 in battery specs, electrical section, it specifies a type 58

here is a Century brand @ 560CCA

Thanks Guys,
I did look in the book I have with mine but couldn't find a battery spec. The terminal position was part of the problem with the ones that come up as recommended. I found a Repco one the same size as the old one (apparently they're Commodore batteries) but the "Premium" level one has 640 CCA, so I'm a bit happier with that.

I run a 600CCA AC Delco battery in mine, it's a Zg battery, the last one I had lasted me 4 yrs and that was secondhand and dead flat when I got it, my current one is now 2 yrs old,
I have cut the plastic battery tray out to allow a longer battery, did that about 10yrs ago and never looked back....
