Default Wj V8 Exhaust options

I'm looking at changing mufflers on my WJ V8, seems a shame to have such a sweet V8 and not be able to hear it. My mechanice said that a more free flowing muffler can cause the problem of a lack of back pressure loosing both power and economy. Has anyone had any issues with that?

Ive got the flowmaster setup which was installed at hitech mufflers at darlinghurst, has increased power and a smooth note which you can hear that it is V8.

I had some cheap work done on mine - cut off behind cat, larger diameter (than stock) pipe into shorter muffler, then stock tailpipe.

Don't know about change in power, but sounds like a v8 and cost me $140!

i thought all that stuff was pretty unimportant unless you're changing the cats, because that's where most of the resistance lies. I was told that a different muffler might possibly make .5hp difference.

would that be the current issue that i can't find in any newsagent?!?

I mangled one of my cats at landcruiser park so need to find a new setup too... one which DOESN'T hang half a meter lower than the rest of the car!!!! (don't know who would put a low exhaust like that on a lifted 4wd!)
