Default Panhard Bracket

Hey guys,

going to be installing a 2" lift soon.
Confused about the panhard drop bracket.
I have one for the Rear. Do I need one for the front also? If not, why?

Cheers

At 2" you wont need a drop bracket, maybe an adjustable panhard if you want to make sure the axle is 100% centered under the Jeep. Why don't you need it? Basically because it is overkill for 2" and the Jeep steering geometry etc will be fine without lowering any of it.

Cheers
Steve

In addition to steves comment, if you drop the panhard end down then I think you would need to get a drop pitman arm to keep the drag link and trackbar geometry the same.

Being a TJ though, with the lift you will also need to check the wheel alignment. When the angle of the drag link increases with the lift it pulls the tie rod ends closer together increasing the toe in.

Wow, sounds confusing.
I have one for the rear, if I use that and leave the front standard would that create more issues or would i be best leaving it off all together?
I've seen kits that have a pair supplied with a 2" lift and other kits with none.

Thanks

Definately stick the back one on, it improves the handling and also centres the diff. You may need to check for clearance on the chassis (dont know the TJ well enough) as on the JK they can foul at full stock rebound position so extended bumpstops may be required.

For the front, as Steve said an adjustable track bar will pull the diff back to centre. At 2in lift though you are prob only looking at about 5 to 7 mm sideways, so you prob wouldnt even notice it unless you have wider tyres that just fit under the guards. On my JK I have about 70mm lift on the front from stock and the diff was about 10mm off to one side, so the adjustable trackbar pulls it back to centre. Again on the JK, the front drop bracket cant be used unless you are over 3 in of lift due to clearance issues, as you need to put 3in bump stop extension in.

I have not long ago now put a 2inch lift back in mine after an unsuccessful 1st attempt where I had the death wobbles big time anything over 40km
So 2nd time round i have the following in the front a drop pitman arm, front adj panhard and a HD front tie rod and ends with this have had no troubles at all and have done a good 5000 k's with it in on and offroad
Hope this is a help

as stevef said, but you can also recentre the diff by redrilling the panhard bolt mount on the diff, not sure how much it is for a 2" lift though, 3/4" centre's from memory,
