Don't laugh, but I got my XJ serviced at my Stealer for the first time in 3 years [full service, and oil gaskets galore], and I got the impression that parts AND XJ EXPERIENCE are hard to come by. The business model dictates that the cars they service are either under warranty or at worst, less than 5yo. The time is near when the XJ parts will only be sourced as reconditioned by the local mechanic [that incidently doesn't quite understand what is under the bonnet].

I am sad to see that the Commander forum has gone quiet. The car has a presence about it, and it might have even been my upgrade solution from what has been a 15 year affair with the XJ. Right now, I can't even turn to the KK because I have no idea where its development is headed in the future [the chop? or a Pentastar engine?]. And... the new Grand is not for me.

When I bought my Commander 2 1/2 years ago there was my 2006 model for $38,000 and a demo new limited for another $20,000. I couldn't see enough benefits in spending the extra $$$. I'm still very happy with the vehicle, if only I could solve the bullbar problem

Bullbar issue solveable just depends on if you will have a JJ bar? not as stylish as say an ARB unit but they work?

Truck type bullbars on cars and 4WDs will be the first to go if the lobbyist has their way.

True, that is why country people do not vote Green.
I've hit two Roo's with my JJ bullbar and it stood up, so no problem.
I just need to upgrade my suspension to carry the extra load in the front and increase the GVM overall.
