nice one JB. Looks a lot better than the stockers.

Thats not true, the most Mud Terrains are around 33" inch. See the specs table.

Thanks!!
They are 285/70/R17 and the quote from Bob Janes is as follows -

Thank you for your online enquiry.

It is with great pleasure that I can provide you with the following quote for your 2011 Jeep WRANGLER:.

You have requested tyre pricing on the following product:

Maxxis MT762. We have this available in your size 285/70R17 out of our QLD warehouse. These tyres normally retail at $379, however we are able to provide them to you at the special online price of $354 each which includes fitting, standard wheel balance, tubeless valves, tyre disposal and freight from QLD.

There's always 305/70/R17 - which are apparently 34.4". But I guess you'd need backspacers and stuff....

Hey Kam,

The spec sheet is wrong as it says that a 285/70/17 is a 33.0". Doing the maths shows a 285/70/17 is only 32.7". They also show a 305/70/17 to be 34" but again the maths show it's not. Didn't check any others.

I don't know how closely the tyre manufacturers are required to follow the 285/70 part of the tyre sizing. Clearly the 17" rim bit needs to be fairly accurate otherwise it wouldn't fit but I think there is quite a large tolerance on the 285/70 bit (ie the overall width and the height of the side wall). I know JKTOM was looking at actual sizes v tyre stamp sizes when he was deciding between 265/70/17's and 285/70/17's. I'm sure in some cases he found that when measuring the actual size, some 265/70/17's were a lot closer to being 33's than they should be but some 285/70/17's weren't as big as they should be.

Couldn't tell you whether the Maxxis are a 33" or a 285/70/17 but theoretically at least they can only be one, not both.

There's a guy on the SJC forum that I think gets on here as well (Dieselcon I think) runs 34's. I'm pretty sure he runs them on stock rims as well but not sure if he uses spacers. Based on my 285/70/17's, I wouldn't want to run anything wider on stock rims as I have enough trouble stopping these rubbing on the sway bars as it is.

Plus I guess 305s are technically illegal because of the track width change and you'd have to change your flares too.
