If Jeep & Land Rover keep going soft I'd love to see a completely new manufacturer rise up with their only mission being to build affordable, capable, practical, mil spec style off road vehicles and nothing else. Imagine a Wrangler/Hummer/Defender/G-Wagen/OKA mixed up hybrid.... Yeah I'm an optimist, but ya never know?

Seriously though I was actually wondering the other day if it'd be worthwhile to get some Beijing Jeep (XJ) bodies to sell as new with D44/60s and Chev V8s under them as new

I don't like it, but I suppose evolution of this kind needs to occur.

I mean how else do we go from this....

To this....

i honestly dont think the grand needs to be a capable off road vehicle.. thats the wranglers purpose..

Maybe they need to bring out another XJ- style wagon, on a wrangler chassis and suspension to satisfy the wagon body 4x4 market.

if i had big money to drop on jeeps, id have a wrangler modded highly for offroad, and a comphy grand for the beach and light awd duties, holidays, mild touring.
