Default connecting 12V accessories location

what are ppl doing in respect of connecting various 12V accessories?

atm, I jut connect them via the battery terminal bolts, and when I googled the topic, pictures showed this was a common method, its untidy though

I know it is possible to wire another fuse & relay box

any pointers to threads, ideas etc welcome

it depends on what the accessory is. My Anderson system goes off the busbar thing where the alt connects. The boost & EGT gauges are wired off a 12v ignition wire under the dash.
Its fair to say that the wiring is not a strong point for the XJ. I would not bother trying to piggy back anything that needs more than an amp or 2 of existing wiring. Any headlight upgrade needs relays & new wires, same goes for a sound system upgrade.

Yep, Bleepin Jeep uses an old XJ relay box and modifies it to run all the accessories.
I have done this for my XJ. The box is mounted on the firewall and it all works great.
Mine has all the relays and fuses in it for up to 6 accessories.

Here is mine on the firewall

And this is the relay box i used from a wrecked XJ

The way Bleepin Jeep wires it back up is so that each one of those fuses runs through each one of those relays.

I added extra fusing and relays to the original PDC for my fans and headlights, inside I added extra fusing to the internal fuse box for ACCs and IGN circuits for things like the CB and USB outlets etc, keeps it neat.
In the rear I used a spare PDC for switching and fusing for the dual battery, twin fridge, solar setup, works a treat...

Nothing looks uglier then a heap of wires running to the battery...
