Replaced the old dual battery system for a new redarc one, best thing ever second battery is fully charged.... If the start gets flat I can start with the second by an override switch...

Just be careful if you're going to start from the second battery via the override that the wiring is fat enough to handle the draw of the starter!

I used an Anderson plug trailer extension kit for dual batteries fairly thick wires, hopefully that should work?

Compare it to the fat f@cker of a wire that goes to the starter, which should be finger thickness at a guess and prob should use a bit bigger due to the increased length of the run. Otherwise you'll over heat smaller the wire or voltage drop may mean ya starter won't crank fast enough.

Agree with drewinmanx. I had to jump start a Toyota the other day with 6mm cable, shit got hot fast followed by me swearing! Probably need 12mm as a minimum, might be better value to use jumper lead cable and could even use an earth strap to the body for the neutral?

I just read through the paper instructions, when the button is pressed it links the two batteries in series creating enough voltage to start through the normal battery? I think the gauge that comes with the kit should be okay it's fairly thick

If it joined them in series you'd be putting 24 volts thro ya starter motor!!! Parallel I think. If ya main battery is dead then you'll need FAT FAT wiring from ya second battery
