Did you put any type of plastic/nylon washer under the bolt/screw head? I've heard a number of people have had similar problems with this setup and removed the washers and the problem went away. The washer blocks the ground/earth connection of the housing to the body.

The Tj tail lights use the bolts as an earth, middle one from memory. You can get problems if either the bolt is not contacting properly in the light or to the body. Also the cages have some felt on the back side just make sure some of that has not gotten caught in the bolt as this can also effect the earth.

I recall Jarrardb had exactly the same earthing problem. Lexx seems to have answered it for you, though.

yeah as lexx says, i was having the same problem with mine only a few days ago and the lights started playing up after having the guards installed for a few months. If you installed the bolts with the plastic washer spacer get rid of that and just keep the little star washer on, the plastic part doesnt allow proper connection to the body. Thats what caused mine to go spastic, now all good.

Yep.... pull the rubber washers (stupid idea) as they are insulating the light earth from the chassis...... either that or use the original bolts not the ones supplied.
