just a note i had a dirty shift control module and it was playing up bad last week i pulled it apart and cleaned it.

I had u0402, p0700, u0404 amongst a few other unrelated codes all codes are gone now u0402 and p0700 where caused by the u0404 fault.

Thanks Mate
I'm at home for the week
And the Jeep is still on the hoist at work

Have been reading about wiTech
The Official Jeep diagnostic software, but it's a subscription model
So I checked out the Chinese knocks offs on eBay
But none of the sellers have responded to any of my questions
Just took the plunge and ordered the Auto Enginuity software
Hoping to diagnose what I've messed up

I'm betting it's something stupid like sneezing as a butterfly landed on the roof
Here's hoping ...

Default Front Diff Bushes

So whilst the Jeep is up on the hoist
I noticed the front diff left bush has split again
Don't wanna be doing this every eighteen months

So I've ordered a set of SuperPro poly bushes,
instead of the voided rubber OEM items

As usual, drop the front diff and get it on the bench
Drill the rubber bush

Put the hacksaw through the inside and cut a slot in the steel shell
There is a lip on one side of the shell, so
with a chisel lift up the outside lip and fold the shell away from the housing

Pull (don't push) these soft bushes into the housing
Bit of threaded rod and a couple of plates or washers will do the trick

Two and a half hours to get the diff in and out
15 minutes to change the bushes
See how long these ones last

Default Rear Upper Control Arms

I also noticed the rear upper control arm bushes were starting to rip apart
So I ordered a pair of complete arms from our favourite supplier Febest for under $100

The right hand side is pretty straight forward
But the left hand side has fuel tank in the way

There is enough slack in the fuel pipes and wiring
to lower the fuel tank 6 inches to get at that front bolt

The middle sidestep bracket had to be removed too

And someone put a stoopid spring in the way too
(Put the bolts back in the other direction)

If your suspension is lifted like mine,
then the original length arms won't line up

I had the entire weight of the car on the diff housing
Just to push the diff into the right position to install the bolts
Glad I'm not doing this job in the carport

Meanwhile back in transmission land
And the computer says ...

Well apart the modulating pressure being all over the place
The electronics check out fine
Time for transmission to come out
