Default Anyone tried Khumo MT51's

Has anyone tried the Khumo MT51's? I saw them today at the stealers and thought they looked like a possibility. They come in 265/60R18 with a 119 load rating.

Cheers

Don't. Had Khumos on my 2012 JGC and barely got 21,000km out of the first set and 23,000km from the second set.
Then changed to Coopers, still going after 80,000km.

On my 2016 JGC Limited 75th at least they've ditched the rubbish Khumos and replaced with Continental. 33000km and still close to 50% tred.

Goodyear Duratracs LT are another aggressive AT with good wear. 12mm original tread and after 35,000km they have 10mm to 11mm on all 5 (that's with a 5 tyre rotation on my KL Trailhawk). Not sure if available in that size though. Had 53000km on a set when I sold the Wrangler and all had around 10mm remaining.

Are you referring to the OEM Khumos (Solus KL21's), NOT the MT51's? Totally different tyre. The KL21's were hopeless.

Yeah. The Solus ones which came as original tyre on the 2012. Yep, hopeless.

The one's you're looking at might be ok but given my experience with the Khumos I wouldn't buy any of their product again.

The MT51 is an aggressive AT a bit like the ST Maxx, etc. I was looking at the AT51, tread still looks pretty aggressive for an AT and the reviews sound ok.

I wonder about going to that much bigger tyre. It is a lot heavier and I guess will affect fuel consumption a fair bit. The extra diameter will affect braking, too I suppose.

Your thoughts/observations, Benno???
