Default Oil Change Required

I own a 2010 KK Cherokee and about a week after doing an oil and oil filter change it keeps coming up with the message on the dash "oil change required" every time the car starts. I used a 5w 30 full synthetic oil which should be fine with this model, oil levels are normal too.
Is this something that comes on to let you know what intervals to change the oil or is it detecting something wrong with the oil?

I found this online:

Quote:
To turning off the Oil Life Light on 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 Jeep Cherokee, conform to the following instructions:

Turn the ignition key to position “ON” without starting the engine, If your Jeep Cherokee has push-button start, press the “Start” button twice without touching the brake pedal.

Press accelerator pedal to the floor three times within five seconds.

Turn the ignition Off
I think the JK that I have is just ignition on, hit accelerator to floor 3 or 5 timess, ignition off. It cannot actually tell anything about the oil, except for low pressure, it just seems to be on a timer of some sort. I've only seen it once on my '08 JK...

Your owners manual should be able to tell you how to reset the service interval. On the GC’s it’s done through the menu on the EVIC.
