Best place to sell a modified Jeep?
Hi guys
I'm trying to sell my 2012 JK Wrangler. It's got a few nice bits on it like AEV front bar, back bar, snorkel, bilstien shocks, CRD progressive springs, geometry kit, 33inch tyres etc. It's a one owner full logbook car.
I've had it listed on Gumtree, Facebook and Carsales but haven't been getting many hits. Any suggestions on where people have had the best luck selling them? I would have thought it would tick a few boxes for the right buyer but maybe people are put off by modifications? What's the market like for a 2012 V6 with 99,000km, how do you price the mods?
Any tips, leads or advice is appreciated...

Mods unfortunately are not worth much, if anything. Many will sell their Jeeps for less than the amount they have spent on the modifications, and buyers are more interested in purchasing something that will meet their needs into the future, rather than the needs it met with its previous owner.
If you can illustrate that the vehicle will not require further expenses in the short term by changing out diff fluids, fresh or spare belts and hoses all round, there may be more interest. A private seller vehicle generally attracts less than a dealer simply due to the dealers being able to offer some measure of warranty that the vehicle is sound and will not break down in the first 6 months.

How much are you asking? I bought my stock 2012 3.6 Manual with 61000km in September for $26k privately in Melbourne. 1 owner full Jeep service history and all recalls done. Don't think you'll even get half back on what you spent on the mods.

Sold mine through carsales. Took a while to sell though. Maybe 3-4 months. Did also advertise on Gumtree but only got enquiries from tyre kickers on there.
As others have said, any mods included are effectively worthless. They might be "nice to have" for the new buyer but they could also put some other buyers off. Someone wanting a modified Jeep will still look at stock vehicles for sale but someone wanting a stock Jeep won't look at modified vehicles for sale so selling it fully modified could limit the number of people who will consider it.
I took the bar work off mine and advertised it with the lift & snorkel, plus a whole load of other bit and pieces. In the end I probably got what the car was worth but if you add up what all of the bits and piece had cost me (hard top liners, GDE tune, seat covers, suspension, snorkel, etc) I probably gave away maybe $10k worth of parts with the car. In the end the guy also bought the bar work as well but at least then I could up the price a bit to include them and get something back for them.

Can't help on the "where" bit... but perhaps you could just not mention the "mods" so much.
In the scheme of things your Jeep IMHO is what I'd class as pretty much stock especially when you look at what most of us class as "modified" - so perhaps your unnecessirally making things harder for yourself by conveying the wrong image ?
Sure you can point out the extra features to interested parties.....when they turn up for a look.
