Yep, I agree, sales of the GC have dropped nearly 50% that's why $6,000 discounts are being offered and you can still buy '15 builds. Jeep USA set a target for sales in Aus last year, shipped in more than sold the previous year, but with the anti jeep campaigns because of treating customers like crap the buying public are teaching fca a lesson. Excessive service pricing and cowboy dealers hasn't helped either

A Lot of people looking for new tugs to tow caravans with will not even consider Jeep because of it's mistaken image of being unreliable and no warranty claims will be entered into

Has effected second hand prices as well

Bad reputations get around. I can't see how Jeep dealers can justify service fee costs that r close to the most expensive out there. Dearer than a plumber or sparky!! Complete rip off. The mark up on spare parts is so extreme as to warrant an investigation by the ACCC, in my opinion.

Dealer attitudes also suck. I have not taken my JKU to a Jeep dealer since I was stung $1000 to fit two driving lights. I payed back by making sure someone else rather than the dealer got pretty much all of the service work etc which is where dealers make money. I estimate over my ownership, about $7000 hasn't gone to the Jeep dealer. Multiply that a few times and work out how much dealers lose because of bad market behaviour.

When I read all sorts of motor columns in newspapers etc and a wide variety of car magazines etc and listen to people in the business, there r so many complaints about Jeep vehicles in relation to reliability, warranty issues, dealership attitudes, arrogance and poor services etc that I have been put off buying a Jeep GC, as much as I would really like one. A pig will always look and behave like a pig, regardless of how it is dressed up. Australians want reliable cars and service etc. and do not like second rate anything, as seems to be the level of acceptance by Americans (in particular) as a consequence of a long history of planned decay built into cars since the 1950s.

I have found better pricing and service info from the various overseas/US Jeep parts suppliers & forums than I have received from Oz based dealers.

Jeep dealers need to improve their acts substantially to stop this person voting with the wallet!

Absolutely. Mine has developed a rotational squeak when rolling. First dealer tried to repair. Claimed it was fixed. It wasn't. They tried again by doing exactly the same "repair". Surprise surprise - not fixed. They also managed to loosen/almost shear the bolt heads on half of the wheel bolts in the process, so it's never going back to that dealership. Dealership number 2 diagnosed as needing a new driveshaft, and carried out the work - apparently over $3k worth of work... Claimed all good - but the noise is unchanged...

I don't expect perfection from any vehicle. The handful of issues I've had I would consider fairly minor - nothing that's kept it off the road - but the experience of getting them rectified is always a huge pain in the ass because of the lack of skill/interest/knowledge of FCA and it's dealers. I dread to think what I'd be up against in the case of a major failure...

Yet they can cross the Simpson, climb Telecom Hill, and make it over the Rubicon. Yeah, these things are shit.

The Disco Sport probably qualifies as a 'soft roader', seeing as it doesn't have even a centre diff lock (AFAIK) nor low range.

The Trailhawk, OTOH, has both of these, plus a rear diff lock (which a stock Wrangler doesn't have). It also has almost as much clearance as a stock Wrangler, almost the same approach angle, and actually a better departure angle. Calling the Trailhawk a 'soft roader' really doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The only possible reason you could have for calling the Trailhawk a 'soft roader' is the live axle vs independent suspension argument. But, gee, it's not like the Trailhawk is particularly lacking in wheel articulation.
