Block is being machined, should be ready by end of the week.
In the mean time, picked up a set of cooper ST Max 265/70 x 17's but still needed rims (selling the 20's) so I bid on a set of JK rims with tyres and won very cheaply
The tyres are MT ATZ's 285/70 x 17's, near new! Too big?!
Well I put them on:
I'm thinking...well, you know what I'm thinking!
I may have some 265/70 x 17's for sale
Cheers,
Ruffy.

Looks good with them on ruffy, can you make enough clearance at present height?

Yep, looks tough with those wheels. You might find they'll rub on the rear of the front bar when turning while reversing. Mine do lol. Been meaning to get the dremel out and clearance the front bar

Yeah, and possibly need spacers to decrease the wheel offset a little; very close to the rear shocks and I think the turning circle might be impacted by the tyres hitting the LCA's or inner fender.
I think I may keep them at least until I get her running again and suss out clearance issues then.

Upon a little jacking and turning of wheels, the 285's hit the rear of the front guards so no hope of clearing under flex
I don't wish to attack the WG with an angle grinder like the XJ.
So the 285's will be up for sale and the 265/70 x 17's will get a run.

Engine block is ready to collect
0.020" over, pistons fitted to the rods (the machinist offered to fit them while he had them. "OK" I said. Full floaters, so not difficult).
No.2 conrod had an 0.008" bend due to the pistons' collision with the valve seat and head, straightened up just fine.
Crank linished, crank bore alignment is good and all identical in size.
Commence assembly next week.
My target of running mid-March is looking good. (Bugger, shouldn't have said that should I?)
Cheers,
Ruffy.

who is doing assembly ? my crank was a A c c c c bearing size with standard big ends , I couldn't find ANY mains bolts for there was one tty that failed on the main , it was the first bolt/stud for the oil pick up , (and two more that the end of pick up bolts to) I replaced the head and big end bolts of course , but for that one bolt I couldn't get one !! , I had a spare and had to re use it , my engine is running , I now looks like I have to drop the fuel tank for that blasted failed fuel level sensor !!!
have you checked the journals on the cams ?
and be sure to seal the bed plate correctly (do not use a standard engine silicone )
