Default Transgo Yes or No?

Anyone running, or have researched, the Transgo Shift Kit for the 545RFE?

Interested in opinions, experiences, etc.

Can the bits be installed during a regular filter/fluid service? or is it more involved - don't really want to pull the tranny again.

I looked at the transgo option for the 42RLE and haven't ruled it out yet. That is if you're talking about the seal kit. It can be fitted by removing the transcover in a service. The drill bit worried me at first but found it didn't relate to mine. I was also looking at the wiring harness mod, although it is an inline resistor as per LOST discussions but it is plug and play and easily removed. It appears to change the inputs to increase line pressure similar to having the overide input disengaged but still getting overide gear. This may be better for fuel economy at highway speed especially if towing as the clutch locks up harder; 75psi compared to 5psi.

Hi Glen,
I did the Transgo kit install myself during a filter change.
You have to remove the valve body but that is not difficult once you have the filters off. Unplugging the valve body electrical connector can be time consuming apparently but I got it first try.
I had time on my side so I dropped and emptied the pan, then reinstalled and let it drain some more overnight. That way when you come to remove the valve body there is less fluid running down your arms!

The main thing is to have a clean shop and clean tray or container to work on the valve body (I used a large baking tray...don't tell the wife). Just follow the instructions that come with the kit. Take your time swapping the spring sets over, one set at a time.
The shifting was a little firmer after the kit install but not a huge difference; more like a refinement.

Edit: I did not install a resistor as it wasn't recommended by some compatriots on LOST and I am pretty sure it wasn't in the kit! I am getting a little older and my memory is fading....
Cheers

Glen,
I am in favour of the Transgo shift kit. As you know I have this tranny job underway and as part of the planning have begun gathering parts as follows:
Techtran Guide book for the 45RFE's and 545RFE's (112 pages),
filter set & gasket kit (neoprene pan gasket),
2 x pan drain plug / bulkhead sets (we've discussed that elsewhere on forum) and
HD tranny cooler (Hayden) + frt for a quite reasonable price as a package.

Am purchasing from Cascade Transmissions. They DO answer e-mails. Have lots more items for our transmissions that are not yet listed on their site including speed sensors, solenoid blocks and tranducers for our transmissions and many others including Allisons, GM etc. Freight, too, is reasonable.

Their sites are:
http://www.electricaladvantage.net
http://www.cascadetransmissionparts.com

The comment that Robert made (Cascade owner) made is that the Sonnax piggy back PT # 44957-LB2) is they don't sell it as the Transgo kits resolves most issues related to the trannies with shift quality etc. As I have no issues and just want a more responsive shift pattern to load situations etc. I'll install the Transgo when the valve body is accessable when the new TC goes in and give her a chance to learn the shift pressures before deciding on the Sonnax. All this for more durability. Two other things to add and I'll be happy with the tranny. (I think).

Cheers

I had the transgo put in B1, it did make notice positive improvements to the shift patterns and gear holding in my old V6. Make sure you get all the old valves out of the valve bdy before installing the transshift springs and valves, Its been a lond time fault, some have made when doing the instal, causing major transmission faults and error codes, shutting down the transmissions of many.

Get it right and Its all good.
