Default KJ evaporator help needed!!

Hey all, I've just bought a 2006 KJ Cherokee with the 2.8 turbo diesel. Only to find out the evaporator is gone in it, yeah, not real happy!!

Anyway the major problem I have is no one has a listing for one. I've rang the dealers in Perth and the all say they have no listing for that part in regards to my VIN.

All the ones from the US I can find are all specific to LHD models. Has anyone else had this drama? Not being able to find an evaporator?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The part number for the Evaporator Kit is: 05189335AA

You can't order the Evaporator alone as it is a non-serviced item but it is included in the Evaporator Kit as set out above. Other things in the kit include seals, etc basically the stuff you need to put it together.

This information comes from the 2007 KJ Parts Fiche:

HEVAC Unit
Figure 24-110

I've found that part number on the parts listing ive got, but is it normal for the dealers not to have a listing?
and is he 07 model the same as the 06?

So am I right to assume if I order that part number from the US it doesn't matter if it's a LHD or RHD?

I don't know what is normal for dealers to hold as stock, or have access to, it's probably a matter of policy by the franchise. At this is a Non-Serviced item that's probably as far as they looked and if you don't give them the right information they usually don't waste their time chasing it for you.

The 06 and 07 are the same in that area.

Most Hand specific (LHD and RHD) parts are shown in the Parts Fiche as different part numbers on different drawing pages.

Obviousyly ordering anything from a US source contains some element of risk - I can't give you guarantees, I am only providing the information you asked for.

Your cheapest option might be to contact one of the specialist Jeep Recyclers (some of which are AJOR sponsors). There is at least one in Victoria and one in SEQLD.
