Default wireless remote winch install
Just installed a 13000lbs winch in the kj and was wondering if it is true that having the wireless remote means that it will flatten my battery if l dont wire up the winch with a cut off switch???

The t rex 13000lbs from agr on ebay $349 delivered. Has the dyneema line. Tried to post photos but havent figured out how yet. With the winch install it was as tight a fit as you could get. Used the winch yesterday pulling some trees on my block and apart from being a bit slow worked well.

Dont know thought maybe a transmitter may be constantly powered up? Just got told it would from a guy who is into 4wd stuff so looks like its not an issue so one less job to do.

So the receiver is not a plug in device, its permanently installed? If so then yes, it will be constantly draining on the battery, but by how much will not be known unless measured or stated by the manufacturer.

My wireless remote receiver is a seperate device that plugs into the same port the normal hand controller plugs into. So its not 'installed' when not required.

That said, I would still recommend a cutoff switch near the battery. Just nice to know there is no power going to it.
