For those of you using it in the Jeep..are you using the cigarette lighter adapter with the two usb slots on the top, or something different to charge it on the run?

I keep the wifi turned on and connected to my 10" tablet which allows me to record everything the camera sees..makes it dead simple to edit or delete later.

720p 25fps (save battrie and looks good on big screens)
11MP Wide
3 Photos in 1 second (burst mode)
Spot Meter Off
One Button Mode on
PAL
OSD On
Status Indicators Lights 4
Sound Indicator on 100%
Looping Video off
Protune off
Manual Power off 60secs

Also depending on mounting you would have to change the orientation in the Upside Down settings which I dod as needed but leave the rest alone, I have One Button mode to on as it means I know when I press the power on button I'm recording right away when i stop recording I know it will switch the unit off within 1 mins if I walk away while its still on..

Hope this helps

Brilliant info! Will have a play with the settings tonight. I have the windscreen suction cup, looks very solid. Hopefully will get a run out with it this weekend and see how it performs.

I use a generic two USB cig plug charging out of the 1000mA port as recommended by the manual. I also wifi connect to a 10" tablet. I've run it continuously for four days (turning it off at night) and had no power issues with it in that time and the battery remained fully charged, which is handy when you take it out of the car to use.

Default GoPro tips and advice?

I might buy the twin USB cig charger, that's a good idea.

I haven't had a chance to get out for the last month, but yesterday I picked up the head strap mount, so went for a quick recce to try it out. I drove a couple of kms up the road with camera on the dash mount, then changed it over and drove back so I could compare the results...very pleased with how it turned out. Almost like surround sound, only in video..views through side mirrors, internal mirror and side windows give you a much clearer record of the trip, rather than just over the bonnet.

This is a fantastic thread and very helpful. It took me a bit of time to nut out exactly where to mount my GoPro hero 3 black. I've got the frame mount and wired a USB power cable to it as well for my windscreen mount. I also stuck a few other mount outside to get a bit closer to the action. But I use the waterproof mounting outside the Jeep. Here's a short video to show the results on my JKU. I use CyberLink PowerDirector 11 as my editor. Not as powerful as Adobe Premier etc, but much cheaper. Have not posted a video before so hope it works!
