Not sure if aluminium or steel rims are necessarily better than the other.
It's a bit like the petrol/diesel or auto/manual debate - both are clearly different but is one
better ?
If one was clearly better than the other, the other wouldn't even exist because no-one would use it.

I'd be happy with steel rims
or aluminium rims - currently running ally because they were the same price as the steelies I wanted and looked twice as expensive
Yes the allys get chewed up on the rocks but it's superficial.
And the allys will sustain much greater hits than the steelies - until they break of course but the sort of impact needed to break an ally wouldn't exactly do a steely any favours either.
Don't see too many comp rigs running steelies either.
