It sounds like a pulley bearing thats worn. Mine ended up being a the A/C compressor.

try pulling the belt off and running the car, that'll help isolate the problem. Then just put a long metal bar or screwdriver against each accessory and see if you can hear the whining coming from one of them.

go down to the auto parts shop buy a Mechanic's Stethascope, it's like a doctors but has a rod that comes out ( yes you can use a screwdriver but this is toohard) the run motor place rod onto differnt parts ( non moving) listen you can hear all sorts of things even a test for dodgy injectors, listen to the a/c compressor & alternator & power steer pump & water housings, listen to the idler pullys for noise, cruncking, grinding, singing ect.

I have done all this with my 2008 JKUR i have a wine from the belt, it is worn pulley's short of changing all the pulley's it is somtting to live with, if you wheel, go bush into dust, run deep into water you will get this problem, it will get worse with age, remember the vehical that sits next to you with no pinstriping, no dents or paint missing from the bash plates & no funky noises coming out of it has been deprived of it's birthright to wheel hard.

So take it as a badge of Wheeling.

& the stethascope is a handy tool!!
