Default New upcoming Grand Cherokee has Bluetec diesel

Just wanted to trow this one in, possibly you heard about it already...
The upcoming change in the Grand Cherokee will replace the current 3.0 diesel by a similar sized Bluetec diesel, said to have much lower emissions, MORE power and torque and be less thirsty.
No details on this yet, so please don't ask me as I'm not supposed to know anything.
Happy 'wheeling

More power and torque but be less thristy, interesting. I thought more power generally meant a bit more fuel to get there. Do you know if they have played around with the shape too? Look forward to seeing it!!

Thats called Technology....... Whats the point in spending millions of $$ trying to make an engine use more fuel....? Thats the skill of an engineer, extract more power then the last model and make it smoother and more economical..

This is what I heard. The dealers are already informed on upcoming models so this one is definitely in the pipeline. There will probably be some minor body mods but I haven't heard of anything radical.
The bluetec diesel will not need to have the special additive called also "Bluetec" or "Add-Blue" or similar that large trucks with this technology need. Rumors are that diesel consumption will be below 10 liters/100 km, about 20% less than the current model.

had a look at that site, maybe I'm missing something here but this technology is 2006 and here we are in Aus still with CRD or is CRD and Bluetec the same animal. The technology seems to focus on emission control and I really didn't see any focus on reduced fuel usage only a potential for it and in terms of less then 10l/100k...I'm getting that now. Trip from Brisbane to home yesterday on the freeway at 110k delivered 9.5l/100k average.

From what I understand the Bluetec feature can be put on the CRD (08 model) in the emssion control and as such has the added features of better fuel economy, emissions etc. This was why Anna bligh was going to change all the Statesmans over to 300C CRD's as they are just as big and prestigous but the CRD offers better economy than the holden V8.

It will be bad if they go to the Cummins donks as any benifit we have from mercedes goes straight out the window.
