Default Rubicon front axle options

Hey guys, first time out in the new rig and I have destroyed the front axle and u joint. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with aftermarket axles?

I am thinking of getting the Nitro kit which has the upgraded 4340 axles and bigger u joints. I have also been advised to throw in housing tubes aswell which i am not sure about just yet.

Anyone with past experience or knowledge on going down this path I would love your input.

Cheers

May be you will want to take a look at Teraflex heavy duty axle housing.
Isn't that a little bit too fast to break the new rig? :P

Was it the splines on the axle shaft or the ears once the uni let go that caused the damage Mobbzy?

Whilst i understand your disappointment.... you've lost the plot a bit.

What you have experienced is the classic Dana "eject the U Joint C Clip" issue.

Once this happens the U joint cap works loose and then bangs around and damages the "ears" of the axles. A leads to B leads to C.....

You'll find LOTS of post over the years on this issue, but of course Jeep / Dana haven't changed the design to fix it.

Many aftermarket axles are slightly differently shaped in the "ear" section allowing the use of full circle clips which don't work loose.

Yea mate I understand what has happened, not sure what you mean by lost the plot though?

What I should had said in my first post is I am not Interested in replacing the factory parts and while I am in there I have decided to upgrade the axle shafts aswell.

I did find a few post on the topic but not exactly what I was after. I would like to hear from people who have actually gone down this path and I want to know what there thoughts are on the brand and type of axle and joint they used, quality, easy of fitment (housing tubes) or even CV joints and such.

So if you have done this in your rig I would love to hear which path you took and if you are happy with your decision?

Cheers
