I still think even retaining the 25 models is too many from a parts and servicing perspective.

Jeep arrived in Australia in the mid 90s with a sport and a limited XJ, and with a Laredo and Limited ZJ. Their sales went gangbusters.

It is better to service and support fewer cars in the lineup.

Most of those models are just cosmetic, though I still reckon the XJ and ZG were fantastic and still are.............. When Jeep lobbed here back in the 70's they didn't last long as they forgot about after sales service....now they have it.
Why buy anything from a dealer quicker and cheaper from Parts shops here or in US, Jeep parts are not solely Jeep, with an Italian engine which is in many other vehicles and a gearbox the same, common sensors from Bosch etc, hoses and belts listed in many catalogues, no need to pay thru the nose and wait weeks.

If Jeep dealers closed I wouldn't actually notice.........

Yeah that’s fine unless you’re buying new. Someone who buys new is at the mercy of the dealerships. The fact you’ve paid for a brand new car should be enough without having to pay for parts and repairs to keep the bloody thing on the road. I sure as sh1t wouldn’t have been prepared to have to fork out to have the diff replaced after it developed a fault in the first 4 month of ownership. Took about 18 months of fighting Dealerships/FCA before I got that one fixed. Was good for a year then happened again - I started the fight yet again... but in the end gave up and flogged thing as is at great cost to myself. Just wasn’t worth the pain (on top of the dozen or so other faults the thing developed in the time I had it and in all cases had to fight to get resolved, or didn’t get resolved at all).

I've found increasing indifference with dealers of a few brands in recent years. They're all over you at sale time and it's then off to the darkened depths of a less than enthusiastic 'service' dept if you need anything after-sale. Jeep bottom of the pile (IMO), but also hellish indifference with the wife's cars from: VW (read also SKODA), Mazda and Toyota.

Absolutely - there won’t be a brand out there that hasn’t treated some of its customers like sh1t. I’ve had a good run with VW products (touch wood) - 3 vehicles over 6 years - only problems were a faulty door speaker and a loose hose clamp - Not a single recall. The Jeep gave me more grief in 4.5 years than every other vehicle I’ve owned in 20 years put together - my folks owned 2 Jeep’s and had similar experiences. 3 from 3 wins on VAG ownership and 3 from 3 fails on Jeep ownership has been pretty decisive for me!

Fair enough, I was referring to dealer indifference rather than vehicle reliability. Either way, our personal experience is what it is.

Thats a horrible experience, had 3 Grands not one once of trouble in a total of 500,000km ....... 50yrs and 14 vehicles new and 2nd hand only ever had the free service done then never went back, always used other mechanics, never had a warranty claim or anything major fail. Prices quoted by dealers was always beyond my wallet for a service or just parts, still is.
