What lift kit do you guys recommend for a 2 door? I don't want to spend too much (i.e. I'm thinking up to maybe $1400-1500 + labour), if that is possible?

I know AEV gets a good wrap but anything bad with TeraFlex? It just feels like my little 2 door is bottoming out when I go over ruts and logs etc.

Im running teraflex 2.5 lift with falcon shocks from SBR, very happy at this stage on my JKU. You are in the ballpark with teraflex depending on what shocks you get.

Do the shocks make a big difference between brands? It's like shopping for dog breeds, everyone has an opinion on what is good and what is bad..

Also, is a 2.5" lift legal for a 2 door? I mean, for insurance purposes or do I have to go get a certificate etc.. I'll get it professionally installed because it's a big risk..

As for shocks, they offer different price points to suit different budgets & applications. Falcon 2.1 is the entry level of the Falcon shocks but they offer the 9550 VSS (Vehicle Specific Shock). But there are heaps of offerings, I'd like the 3.3 fully adjustable but the budget didnt allow for it. Everything is a compromise. In Falcon shocks they do specify shocks between the 2Dr & 4Dr.

As for legality depends which state in our great land you live in. As for insurance I think its fairly standard, if its deemed roadworthy by the vehicle licencing its covered by insurance.

There is some writeups about it, think it was 4wd action.

They talk about overall roof height, doesnt matter about tyre size, lift, body or suspension, the total height is what matters. They say 50mm total roof height.

So anyway I have a 2018 JKU with a 2.5in Teraflex lift kit from SBR with Falcon 2.1 shocks, not that it matters, with stock wheels & tyres 255/70R18.

Just went out the back & measured my Jeep roof height, 1865mm at its highest point of the roof. Book height from the attached 1865mm.

So in theory going by the book the 2.5in lift fitted has taken me to book height, so can go 50mm above that with the combination of the above. 33's here I come!

Looks as if Bridgestone Australia is now selling the Firestone MT/2 in a near OEM size 265/70R17.

It has very good reviews on Tirerack.com

Just had new tyres fitted - Kenda Klever RT 601 in 33x10.5r17 on stock rims and no lift. Very happy so far, not obviously noisier than the stock wrangler ATs and feel great on the road in both wet and dry. The tyres are also available in 35x10.5r17 for that pizza-cutter look but I'm not ready to go to 35s just yet.

I've got an AEV 2.5" lift kit waiting to be fitted once I've got my brake issues sorted.
