Just recently changed my 2 front, removing the amp, and remote mounting the amp inside the door, and used KENWOOD KFC-E705P, 6.75" speakers I got off Ebay:

I didn't take any notes, as there is plenty of info on the web about this, but you do need to unclip and reroute the wiring a little, and a soldering iron is useful. I drilled out the amp mounting holes slightly, and used longer bolts, some nice big panel washers and nyloc nuts.
Been 3 months so far, and no issues at all.
Kit above came with tweeters, which I did not use. Also, found the speaker wires taped under the packaging AFTER I bought new speaker wires. (the connectors have to be changed)
There are also kits that you can buy, to repair the speakers yourself. example:
