Default Death wobbles

Ok so where do I start?

I have had a 2.5” lift installed with a HD track bar, today I have gotten death wobbles doing 50km/hr twice. MY16 jk 4 door

Is there any common thing to look for?

I have watched the YouTube videos and how to on diagnosing, so will do that when I get back home.

Just looking to see if any others have experienced wobbles at this low speed and what there issues were.

Jeep Wrangler suspension is very fussy when you play with it and change geometrics. I’ve been through this. No amount of research will enlighten you. To get you started,

1. 2.5” lift. Did you install extended front sway bar links to compensate lift?
2. Wheel alignment is perfect?
3. Wheels properly balanced?
4. Tyre pressures correct and all consistent?
5. No worn rubbers underneath causing movement or vibration?

Default Death wobbles

Check condition of ball joints. Jack a wheel off the ground and use a length of timber to lever under wheel to check for movement.
Also do you still have original Goodyear Wrangler tyres? My JKU had everything thrown at it to cure DW and final solution was to test with wheels with non-Wrangler tyres - no DW with new tyres! The Goodyears had uneven tread which seemed to set off or exaggerate DW syndrome. Search will show this is a common issue with these tyres.

Thanks,
1. Yes installed geometry correction, new end links and the complete terraflex 2.5” kit
2. Wheel allignment was perfect two weeks ago when it was done
3. Booked in tomorrow for a balance to rule that out.
4. All 4 are sitting at 34 psi, that was my first check
5. Checking the rubbers tonight to rule them as well. They didn’t say anything when the lift kit went in 2 weeks ago, so I’m assuming they are ok. But will confirm

Another thing, mine used to do it right on 80kph, not 79 and not 81. Exactly 80. In the short term for yours, don’t sit on or around 50, keep it nicely under or accelerate through quite briskly 60+. When I did I get DW at 80kph, nothing would stop it, not slowing or accelerating. In fact one time I did accelerate thinking I could push through it and the wobbles were so severe I broke my steering dampener at the bolt.

Jesus ok, noted.

Yeah both times I’ve slowed down straight away. So far hasn’t happened again, but hopefully the balance tomorrow shows they were off.

My extensive research and experience with the dreaded DW is that playing with tire pressures also helps. For example, with my 15” BFG 31.5 M/T’s it likes to be at 32psi or less all round. Anything above 32psi seemed to correlate with a DW episode.
