I actually followed your tutorial to a tee Glen (drained for 1 hour, changed the flow control valve and both filters etc.) Which is why I was wondering why I had 8L, when you mentioned you had drained 6.5L and the US forums were saying 6 Quarts for a fluid change.
Mine actually had a gasket on the pan which hadn't leaked in the 20,000km since we have had it, so I replaced it with the new cork gasket that came with the service kit. No leaks so far and I won't have to bother scraping any RTV off at the next service!
Why don't people use the gaskets anyway? I've never really had a problem with them.
