Well, I received the official quotation from the dealership and it would seem that the prices of the pump has reduced because I was asked if the timing belt had been replaced recently and now that has been included in the quotation.

The the original estimate DID include the radiator replacement (but not the timing belt ect) so the total of the quote including radiator came in at $4653-00. The quote for the work with just the water pump and the timing belt, tensioner belt & 2 idler pullys is $2419- both incl GST

So not as frightening as first advised. (Bit like going to the Doctor and being given what could be the worst case first and scaring the stuffings out of you )

With the radiator included quote there was an item called 'Adjuster Power Seat' part no 05159049AA Cost $905.90 plus GST ... have no idea what that is. No mention of the 'serpentine belt tensioner' and thats what you have to be prepared for.. as the job can grow.

Pleased they have come back with a more reasonable quote for you.
The price above was with non-gen parts.

Honestly, do not bother with a dealership.. Spend the money and put the car on a tow truck if you need, Take it to a jeep specialist like USA 4x4. Have the car checked over and done right.. Not some 16 yo kid at the dealership.

Those prices are a joke, even more for a KJ. I can do a full timing belt change, water pump, intake clean, serpentine tensioner and belt and coolant flush. all genuine parts on a jk for $1500...

Call Tony at USA4x4 and speak to him...

$4500 is bullshit for a water pump exchange if you had the pump fresh from the USA current exchange rate and postage about $200 to $230ish any mechanic with half a brain would only charge you a couple of hundred or less to fit or fit it yourself not hard just fiddley and takes time
try rockauto I order parts and 2 weeks later they arrive

Thanks for your imput and yes I did ask Tony at USA 4X4.. its at least an 8 week waiting list for him to do it. Worth the wait? Probably Can I afford to wait? Not sure ... I'm 30ks from nearest town one way, so a car is essential... still considering that one.
