Default Flares to cover wider rims

Hi All,

So its been a chain reaction... Bought a new rear bar from BlackJack Welding, but now need new rims because of the offset of the tyre holder, which is cool, but then also needs wider flares as they will sit with a wider stance...

So Dave from Wooders has the Rims Im after so thats sorted, I just dont want to get rims without having flares so as to not draw attention from the police.

Thing is I dont want 7" flares because they are so wide. From my math I only need 6" flares... Now no one seems to have stock, and if Im going to have to wait for someone else to important them, I may as well do it myself... No offence intended to the vendors here

I can get 6" pocket style flares off ebay for about $360 delivered which is a pretty good price, but then have the wait for delivery.

So the question is, Ive seen people make do with some simple black rubber extensions to the factory flares. And Ive read a few reports were people use garden edging? I just cant for the life of me see how people join it all together so neatly?

Id like to grab the rims so that I can carry a spare again, but need a plan for temporary cover, can anyone give me some pointers on how they have attached/fixed the rubber/edging to the standard flares?

Thanks
Brad

I made these with bunnings edging and aluminium angle.

Shape the edging with a stanley
Rivet to the ally
Take a few chunks out with the grinder for the bends
Bolt to existing body nut serts or zip tie

They look great!

Have you got a photo from the inside by any chance? Im assuming its lots of small pieces of aluminium angle? so that you can get the right curve?

Best i have, sorry about the mud.

Its one long strip. For the corners (1 for the front, 2 for the rear) i cut some small triangles out of the side attaching to the tub to allow it to bend.
