Default Dodge canter 5 speed????

I recently bought a 74 CJ6 with a 290 AMC V8 mated to a Dodge Canter 5 speed gearbox. There's an adapter plate to the Dana 20 transfer, diffs are Dana 27 and 44. Car was last registered and driven like this 15 years ago...

Does anybody know anything about this gearbox? I've searched but nothing comes up?

Just wanting to know ratio's, strength etc so I can decide weather it's suitable.

Cheers Danny

Yeah ... it helps if you understand the auto industry is a bunch of crossdressers.

Suzukis with Holden Badges,
Mitsibushi with Dodge and Chrysler Badges,
Mazdas with Ford Badges,
Fiats with Jeep Badges .......

The list is endless ..

Try this mob in the link below ... They list an adapter plate - to use the Falcon 6cyl and the Canter gearbox,

... so maybe they have an idea of the gearbox specs and strength.

How do you know it was a canter box?
Could have been a sigma box
Then it depends on which box it was....
amc v8 has about 5hp and 3 torques so it should be fine.

It's not a sigma or any type of car box, it has a pto plate on one side.
I spoke Castlemaine Rod Shop (the link above) about their dodge canter to ford conversion and they don't sell many at all, the ones they do sell are to suit a ford or Holden 6 only so I can only presume they are not an overly strong box.
Thanks all for your help, cheers Danny
