if you haven't it jet...
maybe this map is an answer for you Rob about flaps vs engine temperature: ...

oh shit I can't send picture wrrrrr

758B0
10x1 temp. (-20...94)

data: 10000, 10000.....0,0,0,0,0,10000
I think 10000 = 100%

i try it...filll all 10000 and flaps go under 5%

Hi michale,

Thanks for that. I monitored my swirl from cold today, and it looks like it lines up perfectly with the map you found. Really is unfortunate that we can't log all tags at once, but the graph below seems to confirm it.

Here is the new map you mentioned.

If true, then the swirl is only active from above 35 Deg C to below 94 Deg C.

The engine for this test was 20 Deg C when I started it and drove all the way to this cars normal of 95 Deg C.

Looks like it took 90 seconds to get from 20 Deg C to 35 Deg C. Then after 540 seconds was up to temp. This is true for what I saw at the time on the dashboard.

Nice find, and thanks for sharing. Flat out at the moment with other stuff, but will make a few changes and see what happens. Planning on redoing that swirl test I did too since it was a complete failure the first time.

This car has had two different thermostats in it since I have had it. Both had the engine at 95 where it sits fairly stable. All the clearances in this engine would have worn to a happy place, so not looking to change it's thermal behavior at this point in it's life.

I'm still looking for the AC pressure -> cooling fan map. My hydrocarbon system (Hychill Minus 30) runs at a much lower pressure than the standard R134a, so the fan is not speeding up when it should.

I found this a little while ago, but just based off one of your comments and the 1600 value. Not sure how the selector would fit into it on the horizontal axis, so just pure guessing. Would need to do a bit more cross referencing before changing anything in the map to see what happens. I was thinking that it might be some sort of adder value to the base fan output maybe??? All pure guesses, so not confident at all.

Quick update on some testing:

2003 CRD
33" mud tires
uphill run, 0-60mph times:

Stock : 18.4s
Tuned TCU: 16.1s
Tuned ECU and TCU: 14.7s

I was surprised to see such a nice improvement from the TCU tune.

There is some fudge factor from the app, as we did not have an external GPS but we did multiple runs and they were all within +/- 0.2s

I'll post the youtube video as soon as it's up, no in-car footage, as we were in a rush and it's in Romanian but who doesn't like a motion picture?
