Please school me
Jeep MYxxxx v. VIN v. build date v. compliance date is confusing me
.
For example: 2009 Jeep MY2009, compliance date 05/2009, VIN xxxxxxxxx
8Y123456, build date 1/3/08 (guessing 3 Jan 2008 depending on date format used).
My understanding of the
last 8 characters of the VIN is:
1. Model Year (8 = 2008, 9 = 2009, A = 2010, B = 2011, C = 2012 etc)
2. Assembly Plant (C = Jefferson USA, Y = Steyer Austria)
3-8. Vehicle Serial No. six-digits.
So is the example really a 2009 MY2009 or a 2008 MY2009 or actually a 2008 MY2008
Should the VIN Model Year match the MYxxxx designation or the build date?
When buying a Jeep, what is the date to consider i.e. which is used to determine price/trade-in value etc.?
Cheers,
Dave.
