Mr Plow, Mr Plow......
one of my prior rides was a '78 International Scout II V345

a PO had fitted a plate steel bullbar. I fabbed a mount + 9000lb, used like a tractor to knock small trees with bar, then winch out.

They had an immense frame though, such treatment would twist and smash a cherokee to smithereens.

dont even get me started on the CCKW, whose task was to winch HV power structures upright in off-road situations.

seems all 3 vehicles were used as snowplows in USA

Watching this with great interest, previous owner of my ARB non-winch bar just cut some (nasty looking) holes in it and used it for a winch.

I was thinking of plating the centre up before trusting it myself.

Was this a factory fitted option?...any comments

the above one is listed for sale on ebay and the seller mentions he uses a dismountable cradle winch front & rear receiver hitch mounts.

I hope to fit a winch, but dont want a heavy winch/bar.
will probably fabricate something myself, but the engineering has to be strong
When I first got mine I put in a 2" receiver in the front under a alloy bulbar, worked a treat for backing the boat into a tricky spot where it was stored. Was also a rock solid recovery point.

Good luck wit it.

thx rainman, thats helpful

as to the other options, Google is a great thing, no point re-inventing the wheel...see attached long thread

my comments;

*would prefer not to remove front crossmember, cant see how that would not require engineers cert to be legal insured

*well-designed bracing of frame around steering box would be best

* cant cost more than the whole vehicle did
