2004 Overland 4.7 HO started throwing code P0740 - Torque converter clutch circuit. I never tow, tranny light has never come on, but recently it takes a few seconds when cold to select reverse, and also has just been a tad clunky when it downshifts sometimes. I used my bluetooth OBD2 connector to clear the code, but it came back after 30k's.

Checked tranny fluid level and it didn't even register on dipstick, running, warm and in neutral. I know your supposed to use Mopar ATF+4, but i needed some fluid quick, so used Penrite fully synthetic from supercrap http://www.penriteoil.com.au/product...d_products=336 which is supposed to be compatible.
GC took the whole liter and it just brought it back into spec on the dip stick. Gearbox feels smooth and changes all gears nicely, but still waiting on a longer trip to see if it likes it.

Cheers,

Was the motor removed for this? Or some strategic holes cut? Cost?

I did it myself. The bolts were $3 each and the washers $2. I cut a hole to get to them and it went pretty well. The hardest part is cleaning the black stuff off and I let them go for quite a while so it was pretty bad. I have an invoice from where the previous owner had one done and was charged $143 in Adelaide.
