Lol. Does the gap tyre to guard even out front rear on level ground?

Sent from a tiny keyboard with fat fingers, apologies for my spelling. .

Default What have you done to your JK this week?

Replaced the ball joints.

I've suspected that they may been contributing / causing my DW episodes recently. The usual test didn't prove anything. No movement on the left and very slight on the right, but after doing a lot of research my symptoms were pointing to the ball joints.

Was doing both sides so put the whole thing on stands and got into it.

LHS

A great help. Aptly named Axel. Camp Coffs regulars would recognise him.

RHS

Took a bit but got them out.

Just a little worn, but this is actually the good side.

RHS. Even worse.

Trolley jack handle makes excellent extension for the breaker bar.

New Joints supplied by Dave @ Wooders.

The difference? Like driving a new car. Tighter, more stable, and no more DW, particularly in the usual spots.

Got mine back after a very long sleep over at the stealers, rear diff rebuilt.

So first thing i did was rip out the standard muffler, see how long i can get away with this till the lights flash in my mirror.

Also ordered up a bonnet louvre, should be here next week, then its cutting time.

Swaybar drop brackets will help with your stock wheels.
I actually took the rear sway bar off a few months ago as part of my pursuit of an elusive thump coming from the back. Turned out to be the left arm of it catching on a bolt sticking out from the ARB trackbar drop bracket. I haven't noticed significantly more body roll since then & possibly better traction on the corner at the top of the street where I need to turn onto the main road, strange.

It was a bit of a pain to get the bolt undone, made much easier by the rattle gun! Even it had a hard time, though, as the bolt was bent & the end worn off unevenly. And as for the swaybar, itself...

My current 285/70/17 I run at 32 psi and I'm getting even wear across the tread. If I run them at 38 psi I start to see the centre section wearing faster, and my kidneys don't like the beating they get from harsh ride.
My guess would be no more 28 psi for 35's, but others who run them might be able to advise more accurately.

If you do the maths the volume inside your 35's is roughly 80% more than the volume of the stock tyres. Your JK weighs the same as it did stock (give or take a few mods ) so it only needs the same amount of air in the tyres to support it. The same volume of air in a larger tyre results in lower pressure. According to the maths you could run the 35's at 20psi to be equivalent to 38psi in the stock tyres. There will be other factors to look at such as tyre carcass construction and side wall height differences meaning the tyre flexes more generating more heat so maybe running that low might not be good for the tyres but it shows the direction you want to be heading with the pressures. At 38psi in 35's I'm surprised you've got any kidneys left.
Well said! Basically as volume goes up, more air space in the tyre less pressure required.

Busy few days installing my assorted bits and bobs...

1) JW Speaker 8700 headlights - they really are spectacular. Still waiting on the anti-flicker harness from the states but great lights. [Question for anyone that has installed them - what did you do with the stock parking light? Just cut it out and attach to the Speaker connection? any idiots guides for what to do?] (also waiting for the led fogs to come in too)

2) Switched out the front indicators - going from the 2013 amber plastic to the 2014 clear. Such a clean look with the black rig.

3) Safari Straps cargo netting - as soon as the rainy season is over and the roof will be down 90% of the time the side webbing will go on too. Not shown - spiderweb shade for the cab, just arrived today.

4) Rugged Rigid Extinguisher holder and grab handles.

5) Mopar Bonnet Struts (I went with Mopar to save drilling the bonnet but one pain in the A install due to the fiddle factor - lesson learned is to use an oversize bolt to install the hood catch and swap out with the correct on when installed).

That should see me good/give me a while to save for the lift and new front bumper!
