And pedestrians the bike hits, and ctp does have an at fault compensation component as well.

Holy Smoke! $800 for Rego - I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought $500 or so up here in QLD was bad. I have ridden bikes my whole life and usually my fiancee rides shot gun home with me after work each night. I don't even take up a single lane (just the empty space between the lanes in peak hour).

My suggestion is for Sydney bike riders to plan a protest and get a horse for communting to work and back each day. I wonder how many days it would take for the effect upon traffic to progress to an outcry for the government to reconsider their position. Just my 2 cents - but I would love to see a few horses holding up traffic with a protest banner across their arse as they walked to work on the 60km/h streets. Tie it up outside your office with a $6 bale of hay and leave it for the day. Like to see the horse get a ticket.

Many years ago in Melbourne the city council wanted to ban footpath parking. I think it was the MRA who organised a protest where they got bikers to ride into town and park a single motorcycle in the on road parking bays. It was very successful and the coucil scrapped the changes. Are the MRA doing anything in the way of protest action ?
