Default No More Diesel Jeep SUV After 2021

Read this in the Courier Mail last weekend.

What does this mean for the Grand Cherokee's 3500kg towing...No diesel does this leave only the V8 petrol??..& what about the Trailhawk Grand Cherokee which is a diesel-only model??

My understanding is Europe, but who knows especially when Bosch has just redesigned their emissions controls and whatever else and has come up with a decrease of 90% of Nox as well as other crap

The link is in caravaners forum last week I will have a look again

They mention petrol-electric in the article - that could be their direction? Set up right that could make a pretty impressive tow vehicle - the same principle is used on freight locomotives after all...

I wonder what the trade-off will be in engine reliability and longevity?

My reading of this is that he was talking about the EMEA region, toyota are doing the same.

The govt is currently looking at 105g/km CO2 limits by 2025, which would bring us in line with the US. But in any case diesel is becoming too difficult to develop as emissions limits tighten. PHEV will eventually fill the gap and provide 3.5t towing.
