Our 3.2 petrol Trail Hawk has the "dog Whistle" as well, I too thought it was the fuel pump. Is it a Warranty Issue or a Jeep trait?

Had in the dealer and they changed the rear dif actuator for this same high pitched noise when moving from gear to park or vice versa. Apprantly it's normal

Apparently (according to a report out of Germany), a Jeep dealership has isolated the issue. This is a c&p of the post.

Quote:
Due to the way the actuator is mounted, the regular noise/vibration of the actuator is transferred to the rear axle housing, which works as an acoustic amplifier. Changing the actuator won't make it better. The user reported, his dealer designed a workaround: They simply placed plastic washers between actuator and axle housing as an acoustic insulation. He is now happy, because the noise isn't noticeable anymore.
I also have the noise, but I have noticed also, for some reason over the last week or so it has become quieter. (Or maybe I'm just going deaf).

I had it looked into at the last service and the back-ordered parts were fitted yesterday. They said it was the sway bar disconnect motor....though the part number on the invoice is for a motor attached to the rear diff, which goes with the recent thinking on this.
Noise still there but not as loud.

Lol. Sway bar disconnect on a KL. I would be sidestepping that dealer!

The motor attached to the rear diff controls the pressure on the clutch pack that sits between the drive shaft and the diff to control torque split.
