Default Looking for a Pajero and bought a Jeep

Sadly at Easter, in the Jamieson high country my much loved Nk Pajero lost its footing, or was misdirected and as such, rolled twice landing back on her wheels.
It was a very steep track, low range, first gear and doing about 5kph.

The 3 of us escaped shaken and bruised. To the Pajero's credit, mechanically all it needed was a small wheel alignment, and I drove it back 15k to the campsite over similar terrain.

Written off I started to look around for a replacement, and one car salesman asked if I had considered a Jeep. He had a WH V8 which while in good nick, suffered from poor colour coordination. I did some research, we traveled 200k to look at then purchase a 2006 WH Grand Cherokee with the same V6 turbo diesel my 300c has. It's in mint condition and by far the very best value for money.

So here I am, a new convert searching the forums for hints and tips and looking forward to our next trip to see just how much easier towing the offroad caravan will be.

Steve

Nice work Clarky,
thanks for the links, I looked at all the 4wdaction pages you did,
impressive.

I've learnt a lot about the motor from my 2006 300c, which today decided it needed new glow plugs.
I've already had to change the pink park brake lockout thingy, the crank angle sensor, the alternator (I spat it that time and made it sit in the driveway for 3 months) and the turbo actuator. The stealership wouldn't sell the actuator without the turbo, claimed they were mated or some such crap.
I found Turbo Technologies in the UK and had it refurbished for $460 including postage.

There's a guy in the states that has a plug in fix for the swirl motor as well for about $50.
In spite of the problems I've had, it was the motor that clinched the deal.
It came with an ARB bullbar so we will put a winch on and 2 spotties, and the wife wants black mags and muddy style tyres to make it look tougher. Think she might be going through her 2nd childhood but since it will be her daily drive.....

Anyway, lots to learn and again thanks for the links.
