Looking good, maybe you could build in some drawers under the mattress for storage?

Is the bend in the rear door the same as the bend in the XJ tailgate?
Could look cool to match the angles and maybe even the tail lights?

The bend is close to the tailgate but not exactly the same although I did want that angular look to follow the Jeep lines, same with the slope on the front and the Jeep windscreen. If it follows the lines of the Jeep to much I loose some space in the rear and will have to push the upper cupboards further into the sleeping area, this is kind of a compromise.

Junglejuice, I wont be raising the mattress up at all as I want some decent headroom, it will be shaped to go around the wheel wells rather than lifting it up and having storage underneath.

Jeff, I was thinking of squaring the wheel wells off, probably easier to make and like you say a good spot to use as a small shelf.

Cheers
Steve

The build has begun, well the main rails have been cut, all the rest is made from angle and will be bought and cut when I have the main frame tacked together to make sure I get the right amount of steel.

Here is the final rendering, notice the wheels are now tucked in a bit to keep the track the same as the jeep, better for towing in deep sand and ruts etc.

Welding starts on the weekend Obviously the A-Frame goes under the main frame. Be interesting to see how close to the original rendering I get it and how good my measurements turn out.

Like my Um'd 666 numberplate

Cheers
Steve

Are you running the A frame all the way to the front spring hangers as you should?

Nup. I've basically been following the accepted construction on the teardrop forums etc. I will be mounting the spring mounts to angle and mounting that on the frame, that will tie into the ends of the A-Frame. I think the distance from the front spring hanger is also a bit to far fro the A-frame to extend back too. I'll certainly be making sure it is reinforced enough to not be able to tear off though.

Cheers
Steve
