Way too expensive & too many miles. Knock in engine = run! These days a good 06 CRD with ~160,000km on clock should set you back about $2,000 Yes it cheaper to get a whole car than a second hand engine!

I've been looking everywhere and to get a KJ in decent condition is around the 4k - 5k AUD.

I've also heard that the 3.7 petrol engine is pretty bulletproof and also the transmission in theses (I think they changed it in 2006) is strong as he'll!

As long as you did your due diligence and waited for the right ride and had it checked out I am sure you'll get many happy miles out of it. Let us know how it all plays out - good luck!

The engine isn't to bad but needs regular oil chances the transmission pre the 04 is good after that the use the 42RLE one of the worst Chrysler ever made.. The torque converter is prone to crapping itself and when it does the repair can be anywhere from 2k to 5k. The diesel trans is good
